BACKGROUND:
In order to improve the flow and safety of its vehicles at the intersection of Kibbe Road and SR-20, Teichert wishes to perform road improvements at said location. As part of this effort, a Cooperative Agreement with Caltrans is required since the proposed project partly resides in their right of way.
DISCUSSION:
The Cooperative Agreement is a Caltrans standard agreement required to perform work in their right of way. The agreement essentially specifies that the County will be the implementing agency for design, right-of-way, and construction. Caltrans will perform quality management assurance for their state highway facilities impacted by the project. Both parties will be responsible for their own staffing and consultant costs.
All project costs identified in the Cooperative Agreement as County responsibility will be borne by Teichert, and a separate Reimbursement Agreement between the County and Teichert will be presented to your Board at a forthcoming meeting.
COMMITTEE ACTION:
The Land Use & Public Works Committee was bypassed due to the routine nature of cooperative agreements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No funding commitment. All project costs, including staff time will be reimbursed by Teichert, the project applicant.
