- Recommendation:
- The Public Works Department recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the resolution certifying the 2022 Maintained Road Mileage and Functional Classification, and authorize the chair to execute.
BACKGROUND:
Staff updates this list annually to reflect changes during the previous year due to road abandonments, additions from new construction, and urban boundary changes.
DISCUSSION:
Section 2121 of the Streets and Highways Code requires each County to certify to the California
Department of Transportation on an annual basis the number of miles in our road system and the functional classification of all street and road segments. Exhibit “A” Tabulation, Exhibit “B”
Functional Classification Definitions, and Exhibit “C” Functional Classification Map, have been filed
in the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors indicating that 5.57 miles are being added to the
County’s road system for 2022.
COMMITTEE ACTION:
The Land Use and Public Works Committee was by-passed because the Board of Supervisors certifies the Maintained Road Mileage and Functional Classification on an annual basis.
FISCAL IMPACT:
General Fund Impact: None
No fiscal impact to the General Fund–administrative time only. Public Works uses collected assessments to operate and maintain the Districts.
